I have been going to my mums caravan since i was 6 years old and now i am twenty. its in trimmingham (near cromer) and sadly this year my mum had to sell her caravan. you might be thinking why the heck are you talking about the loss of your caravan? however everytime we went to our caravan it was a tradition to visit mary janes. im telling you now mary janes isnt no ordinary fish and chip bar, its the most beautiful fish and chip bar in the world! It comes with a variety of different fish from chunky cod and makerel to delicious scampi, along with the fish you get a mix of thick and thin crispy lightly salted chips which go very well with the fish. Normally when you go to a fish and chip bar you get the orginal way to salty chips with slimy batter with hardly any fish inside dont you? Well not mary janes, you get thick flaky fresh fish stuffed inside a very crunchy batter and it tastes divine. If your inviting people who dont like fish mary janes also have a range of different foods for an example: beef burgers, cheese burgers, chicken nuggets , and hotdogs. Mary janes have kids and adults meals and they also have many drinks including wine, beer, softdrinks, coke and much more. If you go to maryjanes and you dont like fish give it a try and you will want to eat everyday!. Maryjanes staff are kind, organised, and welcoming. Mary janes is fantastic and you can eat in there divine smelling restaurant or have a take away, if having a take away you could sit on cromer pier and enjoy the fantastic view! I rate mary janes 5 star food, five star staff and five star price. Even though its the credit crunch ,prices arnt high like all those other restaurants out there! Mary janes is my favourite restaurant of all time and is a traditional cromer treat for everyone. so go along now and have the beautiful heavinly food mary janes makes!
best wishes
yours sincerly

What a disappointment! The chips were hard and consisted mainly of small over fried slithers. The fish had very little batter on it and as a consequence was over cooked. This shop is clearly trading on its former reputation and its prime location. In short it is a disgrace to Cromer. We won't be eating there again.

HMM... I have just re-read both the comments on here knocking Mary Janes. I noticed that both J. Ketch and Norman Hall both use the word 'surly' in their comments , which is NOT a common word and both reviews were posted within 11 days of each other in March. Hardly the tourist season !! Me smells an envious rat !! Keep up the great work Mary Janes !!!

I really feel I have to reply to J. Ketch's comments on Mary Janes. First .. HOW does he/she know that the quality of the chips etc is, as he/she puts it, bitter and the staff are "surly" .....when he/she states that ONLY the tourists eat there and he is a local ???? He/she also states that hygiene is 'pretty poor'. For saying that locals never go there he/she seems to know a lot about the place !!! I tend to agree with James Broadbents comments that he smells of being a rival restaurant owner, twiddling his thumbs while the queue at Mary Janes grows. I have been going to Mary Janes for near on 5 years now and can HONESTLY say I have NEVER had better fish & chips... EVER !!! YES.. it has got more expensive but so has everything else and the best is also worth paying that bit extra for. I would advise anyone to add themselves to the thousands if not millions of satisfied Mary Janes customers since 1977, you will NOT be disappointed.

The best fish and chips in the whole of Norfolk, the freshest well cooked fish I have ever had.
